Scorecard

5:50pm

Close of play. Yorkshire will be very happy with the day, as they bowled Durham out for 287, and got one further wicket as the Chester-Le-Street outfit batted on. Wickets were spread around the bowlers with the skipper Steven Patterson leading the way with the three. However, it was arguably Jared Warner that impressed the most, bowling with serious pace and good control. The right-arm seamer claimed two wickets, and was probably unlucky not to have had more. The new opening pair of Ben Coad and Duanne Olivier were unlucky not to get a wicket in their opening spell, and will definitely prove a destructive duo as the season comes around.

Yorkshire will bat tomorrow, and will be hoping to carry on the form that saw them amass more than 300 against Nottinghamshire late last week.

5:22pm

Now it’s Mat Pillans’ turn, taking two wickets in an over to technically bowl Durham out for 287. The first wicket, bowled. The second caught well at second slip by Adam Lyth. Durham will continue to bat for the last few overs of the day.

5:10pm

Another wicket for Warner, and this time he’s sent the off-stump cartwheeling. Durham 284 for 8.

5:03pm

Wicket! Jared Warner claims the big wicket of Ben Raine who batted well for 71. Warner has looked very threatening, bowling with very good pace and thoroughly deserved the wicket, which he got by trapping rain in front, lbw. Mat Pillans is bowling at the other end, and also displaying some serious pace. It’s clear that in Warner, Pillans and of course Duanne Olivier, the White Rose have plenty of genuine pace to call open throughout the season. Durham are currently 284 for 7!

3:58pm

Ryan Pringle has fallen to the bowling of Karl Carver, caught by Ben Coad at cover, for a well made 75. This brings an end to a 128-run partnership between Pringle and Ben Raine, who is 49 not out. Durham are 217 for 6 with 23 overs left in the day.

3:15pm

Tea! Ryan Pringle and Ben Raine have combined to add an unbroken partnership of 92 before tea, frustrating the Yorkshire bowlers. The pair have played in a particularly aggressive fashion, especially of the spinners. However, they have also been fortunate on occasions, and with a little more luck for the White Rose, there would be more in the wicket column. Durham are 181 for 5 after 60 overs.

2:03pm

Patterson has three. The seamer gets Ned Eckersley caught at third slip off a delivery that looked to move away nicely off the seam. Durham now 89 for 5, Ben Raine the new batsman to the crease.

1:52pm

A fourth wicket four Yorkshire, and second for Steve Patterson. Michael Richardson, who had been at the crease for some time, attempts to pull the White Rose captain, but is only able to top-edge the ball. Harry Brook completes the catch at mid-on and Durham are 82 for 4.

1:35pm

Wicket! Josh Poysden comes into the attack, and claims a wicket of the fifth ball of his first over. Graham Clark is trapped in front by the leg-spinner, who bowled a very tight first over. Durham are 78 for 3 off 40 overs.

1:05pm

Unfortunately Cameron Steel has had to retire hurt after being struck on the helmet by a very quick bouncer from Duanne Olivier. Steel was able to walk off the field, and we hope the batsman is alright.

12:20pm

That’s lunch here at Senwes Park! Durham are 60 for 2 with Cameron Steel not out on 31, alongside Michael Richardson. However, the pair have had a couple of close calls just before the break. Young seamer Jared Warner bowled a quick spell from the pavilion end, unleashing a range of good length deliveries with particularly quick short balls.Steel took a blow to the body off him, whilst Richardson survived a close lbw call. Yorkshire will be happy with their efforts once again this morning, with the Durham batsmen scoring at less than two runs per over, thanks to the pressure applied.

11:45

A second wicket for the White Rose. The skipper Steve Patterson gets one to move away from Jack Burnham, who edges it behind. Jonny Tattersall completes the job with a tidy catch behind the stumps. Patterson and Shaw have bowled well in partnership, and both deserve the wickets. Mat Pillans has just began a spell, replacing Shaw, and he starts with an absolute jaffer. The ball moving away from the right-hander, another play and miss. Durham 46 for 2 off 24 overs.

11:05am

Josh Shaw has just claimed the first wicket of the day, trapping Alex Lees lbw. Durham are now 24 for 1 off 15 overs, with Steve Patterson also bowling. The new batsman to the crease is Jack Burnham.

10:22am

No wickets as yet, but Ben Coad and Duanne Olivier have bowl tightly so far, beating the bat a number of times. Cameron Steel took a blow from an Olivier short-ball in his second over. Durham are 7 for 0 off four overs.

Good morning from Senwes Park, Potchefstroom, where Yorkshire will take on Durham in their second and final two-day game of the tour.

There has been some drizzle in the air this morning, but that looks set to burn away shortly. The White Rose will field for the first day, with the attack hoping to carry on where they left off on Saturday. Duanne Olivier, Yorkshire’s new recruit, will debut in this game. For White Rose supporters, it’s is certainly going to be a mouthwatering prospect watching Olivier and Ben Coad bowl in tandem.

Yorkshire look set to come up against former opening batsman Alex Lees for the first time since the left-hander left the Club.
