9:30am Good morning from Headingley! We are all set for day two following a closely fought opening day yesterday.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, New Zealand struggled on the opening morning, losing Tom Latham in the opening Stuart Broad over. The Three Lions’ bowlers kept thing very tight throughout the day and had the Kiwi side 123 for 5 after 55.2 overs.

However, as has happened throughout the series, Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell combined to fight back and will return to the crease this morning unbeaten on 78 and 45 respectively.

England will be hoping for some quick wickets whilst New Zealand will be looking to build an imposing first innings total.
