After a difficult few weeks, England captain Joe Root has a spring in his step.
Root hit an excellent second-innings century to help his side claim a consolatory win, inside four days, in the third Test against the West Indies at St Lucia yesterday.
Chasing 485 for victory, a virtually impossible target set up on the back of standout performances from Root and Durham fast bowler Mark Wood, the hosts were dismissed for 252.
It meant England saved some face having gone 2-0 down in this three-match series, with them winning their penultimate Test before this summer’s Ashes. The last is a four-day affair against Ireland at Lord’s in late July.
