In front of a healthy “Jubilee” crowd Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bat. Will Luxton and James Wharton added 88 for the first wicket in 67 deliveries before Will was stumped for 39 from 33 balls with 3 fours and a six.

On his return, Matthew Waite was unluckily run out at the non strikers end for seven and it was Wharton who top scored with 66 from 51 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes as Yorkshire posted 155-3 – Finlay Bean 28 not out from 20 balls.

Waite struck in his first over to remove Slater for five and shortly after Jack Shutt had Schadendorf caught at long on for 30 from 22 balls and Notts were 51-2. However an unbroken partnership of 107 saw the visitors home with 24 balls to spare: Haseeb Hameed finished 40 not out from 32 balls (4×4) but Joey Evison made 74 not out from only 31 balls with 10 fours and 3 maximums.

Notts batted first however the main run scorer from game one, Evison, was caught for four. His previous partner, Hameed, finished 71 not out from 53 balls as Notts totalled 188-6. Patterson-White 36 from 26 balls . There were two wickets each for Waite and Tom Loten.

Wharton made 21 from 12 but Bean joined Luxton and they posted a century partnership from only 70 balls but it still left Yorkshire needing 55 from 4 overs. The 17th over started with a no ball and then Will Luxton, who had reached his half century from 44 balls, hit 24 from the next 5 deliveries but two balls later he was dismissed, hit wicket for 76 from 54 balls.

Yorkshire now needed 28 from 19. Bean had reached his half century from 34 balls and he finished unbeaten on 72 from 46.

The final over began with seven required, 2 twos and 2 singles saw 1 needed from 2 balls – the penultimate ball saw no run and on the final ball, with the scores tied Waite was run out by a direct hit.

Yorkshire 2nd XI vs Somerset 2nd XI - Report
