Report
Following the first day “washout” a tremendous effort by the ground staff enabled play to start on time. Yorkshire won the toss and asked Durham to bat first, a decision we may be rueing at the close when Durham had posted 388-6.
Openers Jones and Pringle added 97 for the first wicket before Josh Poysden had the former lbw for 45 in the 28th over. This brought Australian international, Cameron Bancroft, to the crease and he and Pringle were unbeaten at lunch with the score at 111-1, Pringle having posted a half century just prior to lunch.
The fourth over after lunch saw Bancroft depart, also lbw this time to the bowling of Matthew Fisher – he had made 13. Shortly after Pringle was bowled by Josh Poysden for 59 and Durham were 142-3. Harte and Clark then added 90 for the 4th wicket when with the 1st ball of the last over before tea Dominic Leech bowled Clark for 74 made from 120 balls and at tea Durham were 232-4.
Poynter came to the wicket after tea and scored easily reaching his 50 from 62 balls with 10 fours and he went on to reach his hundred from only a further 27 balls, in total with 17 fours and 3 sixes taking 28 from 1 Poysden over. At the close Durham had reached 388 losing Harte bowled by Poysden for 37 and Bell lbw to Poysden for 34.
The final day weather forecast isn’t too promising. Therefore a reminder that we are in 2nd XI Trophy semi final action on Friday 21st June at Scarborough against Kent, 11 am start.
