Report

Heavy overnight rain put paid to a prompt start and, on each occasion the Umpires threatened to inspect, they were greeted by a further rain interruption. An early lunch was taken at 12.45pm with a view to starting at 2pm. However a further shower pushed this back to 2.15pm with 79 overs to bowl.

Skipper, Jordan Thompson, won the toss and elected to bowl first and 10 overs were possible prior to heavy rain returning. In those overs Derbyshire reached 29 for the loss of Dinnie, bowled by Pillans.

Tea was taken at 4pm and a further “mop up” by the overworked ground staff took place. Play did resume at 5.30 pm and 3 more overs were possible before bad light brought a halt to play.

During that time the score advanced to 44-2 – Matthew Fisher having McGladdery lbw.

John Virr – 2nd XI Scorer
