Scorecard

Winning the toss MCC Young Cricketers elected to bat first. This appeared to be a sound decision when they had added 80 before losing their first wicket – it was that of skipper, Barrett for 40 from 45 balls caught by Jack Shutt at deep mid wicket off the bowling of Josh Shaw.

A second followed shortly with Imtiaz caught behind from James Wainman for 2. Jack Shutt entered the attack and in his 2nd over he had Ben Curran, brother of recent test debutant Sam, lbw for 44 from 52 – an over later he had another with Hudson-Prentice caught at long on by Jack Brooks. At this point our opposition were 100-4.

This was taken to 133 before Wainman caught Bhula at long on from Jack Shutt for 14, Jack took his fourth when Lezar was taken at cover by Jordan Thompson for 30 from 44 with the score at 161.

The last 4 wickets mustered 32 before they were all out in the 47th over. Shutt finished with 4-47 from his 10, James Logan 2-25 from his 10 and there were 2 for Jack Brooks.

Our reply saw Alex Lees and Ben Birkhead add 87 before the former was bowled for 43 from 51 balls with 5 fours. Ben was joined by Jack Leaning and they added 107 unbeaten to ease us to a 9 wicket victory with more than 12 overs to spare. Jack finished 43 not out from 66 balls with a four and a six whilst Ben finished 94 not out from 107 with 12 fours.
