Yorkshire completed their first “red ball” victory of the season beating a spirited Young Cricketers team by 4 wickets. The victory owed much to Ben Coads 10 wickets in the match and a fine century from Harry Brook.
Young Cricketers had started the day leading by 234 with 2 wickets in hand and they extended this lead to 266 before losing their last 2 wickets, James Wainman finished with 4-63.
Up until the luncheon break 14 overs were bowled and we had advanced to 57 but lost the wickets of experienced duo, Alex Lees 4 and Jack Leaning 11. Tom Loten joined Harry Brook and they added 94 for the third wicket before Tom was caught at first slip for 23 from 53 balls. Prior to to this Harry had reached his half century from 59 balls with 10 fours and a six.
Andrew Hodd hit 5 fours in his 28 before being caught at extra cover leaving us 174-4 and Harry Brook reached his century from 127 balls, including 13 fours and 4 maximums. He added one more boundary before being dismissed for 106 from 135 balls.
At the fall of Hodd, Jordan Thompson came to the wicket and he finished 36 not out from 56 balls hitting the winning runs with a majestic 6 over long on – this was shortly after the dismissal of Josh Shaw for 28 from 38.
