In slightly warmer conditions our first, competitive action started with us being asked to bat first.

Will Fraine and Ben Birkhead posted 51 in 47 balls before Birkhead was caught at long leg for 30. Jordan Thompson joined Fraine and continued his fine form from the previous day – he reached 50 from 43 balls with 6 fours and a six. Fraine was caught at backward point for 38 from 42 balls before the defining partnership started.

Thompson and Jack Leaning added 127 in 140 balls before the former was caught at mid wicket for 86 made from 92 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Leaning made 74 from 88 balls (6×4) and was caught at mid off. Tom Loten made 38 from 27 balls and our innings closed on 314-9.

Ed Barnes struck with three early wickets and only Greenwood with 46 and Dorsey 20 reached double figures as a comprehensive 210 run victory was completed with 18 overs to spare.

Barnes finished with 3-10 from five overs, Karl Carver 3-30 from 10 and skipper, Jared Warner 2-20 from six.

Next action: Trophy game at York against Notts Tuesday 23rd April, 3 day Championship against the same opposition at Harrogate 24th to 26th April.
