1st game
After reaching last year’s “finals day” we started this year’s campaign away against Durham. Our hosts won the toss and elected to field first.
James Wainman departed in the second over and Tom Loten joined Bilal Anjam and together they added 65 for the second wicket before Loten was stumped for 21 from 26 balls.
Unfortunately this was the only partnership of any note as we posted 133-8 from our 20 overs. Bilal top scored with 46 from 32 overs with 7 fours and a six.
We struck early but skipper, Carse and Jones added 81 for the 2nd wicket in 62 balls to put them in control and they reached their target for the loss of 4 wickets with 15 balls to spare. James Logan 2-19 from 3 overs and a wicket each for Wainman and Azeem Rafiq.
2nd game
Bowling first, the score was almost identical to the first game in that we restricted Durham to 130-7 from their allotted overs. Jones, Trevaskis and Steel all posted scores in the 20s and there were wickets for Rafiq, Warner, Shutt and Logan with Josh Shaw being most impressive with 3-17 from his four overs.
However our reply never really got going as we “limped” to 49-6 and then 71-9. It was due to Jared Warner (33 from 19 balls with 4 fours and a six) that we ended 108 all out in the last over.
Our next T20 action is at Harrogate against Lancashire on Wednesday 4th July although we play Leicestershire at York in the Championship starting Tuesday 26th June – your support, as always, is much appreciated.
