After defeat in our opening game we looked to bounce back against Durham. The day started in glorious sunshine but ended with the game being decided by DLS due to several interruptions for rain.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore won the toss and elected to bat first. He and Alex Lees added 42 in 45 balls for the first wicket before the latter was caught behind for 18.

Tom Loten joined his skipper and they took the score to 128 before Kohler-Cadmore was caught at long on – he made 63 from 75 balls with 8 fours and a six. Loten fell shortly after for 42 from 57 balls (5×4) with the total at 132 from 25.1 overs.

Jordan Thompson (17 from 19) was the next to depart caught at mid-wicket (159-4) and Tattersall and Rashid added 30 from 34 balls – the latter being caught at deep cover. Tattersalls knock came to an end when he was lbw for 39 from 45 and Rafiq continued before he was caught at long off for 36 from 38. When he departed we were 256-9 with 2.5 overs left. Jared Warner then made 25no from just 11 balls to enable us to post 288-9.

DLS sheets were printed but with little indication that they may be required. Durham had reached 77 from only 66 balls when Jones was caught at short cover from the bowling of Ed Barnes. Jones made 39 from 41 balls with 6 fours and a six. They progressed further to 94 from 15.5 overs when skipper, Harte, was caught behind off Jared Warner.

Four balls later Durham were reduced to 95-3. Clouds were gathering and after 21 overs play was stopped due to rain – Durham were 126-3, 4 overs were lost and the revised prints and target made. The game went “to and fro” but after 31 overs (173-5) a further stoppage occurred – 5 further overs were lost and a new target of 258 from 41 overs was set.

Only a further 2.2 overs were possible – Durham had reached 191-6 when rain caused a further stoppage. No more play was possible and we had won by 66 runs under DLS.

Adil Rashid finished with 2-37 from 9 overs and there was a wicket each for Shaw, Barnes, Rafiq and Warner.
