Game One

Scorecard

Winning the toss Yorkshire elected to bat first with Alex Lees and Tom Kohler-Cadmore getting off to a flying start. Tom was first to depart being caught at mid wicket but not before they had added 45 in 4.4 overs – Tom made 27 from 19 balls with 4 fours and a six. Alex was next to fall, caught at long on for 46 from 33 balls (3×4;2×6) having added 79 in 47 balls with Harry Brook.

Brook completed his half century from 28 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes but was adjudged lbw two balls later for 51. Jack Leaning and Jordan Thompson added 49 from 32 balls to take us to a total of 190-4; Jack, a run-a-ball 23 and Jordan 20 from 14.

James Wainman struck with the first ball of Nottinghamshire’s reply having Budinger caught behind and in his second over he had James caught at cover by Ed Barnes – James made 16 from 7 balls – 4 fours.

Wickets fell at regular intervals with only the “middle order” offering resistance with Evison 34 from 25, Marshall 40 from 30 and Patterson-White 33 from 21 and Notts finished 161-9, a win for Yorkshire by 29 runs.

Wainman 2-16 from 4 overs, Ed Barnes 2-21 from 3 and Jordan Thompson 4-27 from 4.

Game Two

Scorecard

Notts won the toss and batted first in game two and looked to be on course for a sizeable total when 107-2 in the 13th over, however the last seven overs saw only 47 more runs being added, Notts posting 154-5.

The fulcrum of their innings was Will Fraine who made 57 from only 35 balls with 6 fours and 3 maximums before he was caught at long on by Matthew Waite from the bowling of Jack Leaning. However, Jordan Thompson, again, proved to by our most successful bowler with 2-27 from four overs – wickets also for Wainman and Brook.

Again our reply was indebted to another flying start from Kohler-Cadmore and Lees – the former made 27 from 17 (4×4;1×6) but Alex Lees went on to remain unbeaten with 72 from 49 balls (8 fours and a six) as we recorded a six wicket victory with two overs to spare.

Our next action is, away, against Northants – two T20s at Finedon CC on Monday 23rd July and a three day Championship game at Desborough CC starting Tuesday 24th.

John Virr – 2nd XI Scorer
