Scorecard

Day three began with us leading by 231 with 9 wickets in hand, however Bilal Anjam was bowled by the first ball of the day. This brought Jack Leaning to the crease and he made 22 whilst Tom Loten made 31. Runs were being sought in order to set up a declaration and this received a big hand from the bat of Jordan Thompson – he hit 40 from 23 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes and we were able to declare at 244-6 leaving Northants 339 to win from a minimum of 74 overs.

They negotiated the 25 minutes to lunch at 33-1 with Ben Curran 22 not out. The post lunch session saw them move to 83 when James Wainman struck with successive deliveries to remove Curran and Gay, both lbw.

Skipper, Thurston and Claydon advanced their total to “Nelson” (111) when the introduction of our spinners changed the game. James Logan struck to remove Claydon for 29, caught at extra cover by Jack Leaning and in the very next over Karl Carver captured Thurston courtesy of a smart slip catch by Jordan Thompson.

Jordan took another at slip to help dismiss Zaib and at tea they were 129-5. After tea the spinners worked in tandem and whilst James Logan didn’t take another wicket he contributed to the victory. Karl took the honours taking the last five wickets to finish with figures of 12.3 overs, 3 maidens, 6 for 26.

YCCC 22 points Northants 6

Up next is our final T20 action at Marske CC on Monday 30.7.18 at 11.30 am followed by a three day Championship game at Harrogate on Tuesday 31.7.18 – opponents in both are Worcestershire.
