Scorecard

The final day began with Leicestershire still trailing by 86 runs but with five wickets in hand. With neither side having scored at anything more than slightly over three per over it was difficult to see a positive result being achieved – and so it proved.

Leicester continued to bat – Butchart was lbw to Ben Coad for four and in his next over he bowled Manthorpe for no score, Leicester were 328-7. However Mohammad Azad continued his lengthy stay at the crease. He started the day unbeaten on 74 from 196 balls and had progressed to 98 from 264 deliveries when his partner, Ahmed, was lbw to Karl Carver for 14, 357-8. He duly completed a patient century from 274 balls with 9 fours and he reached lunch 107 no with the score 388-8.

Shortly after lunch James Logan bowled Bowley for 20 with Leicester still 11 behind. Khan came to the crease and made an unbeaten 20 from 34 and when the declaration came at 416-9 Azad was 115 no from 309 balls.

Ben Coad bowled several spells totalling 19 overs taking 2-35 with 4 maidens, James Logan 2-73 from 27 and Karl Carver 3-87 from 33 overs.

First innings centurion, James Wharton returned to the crease accompanied by Bilal Anjam – the score was 12 when Bilal was caught low down at extra cover for five. Jack Leaning joined James and when “hands were shaken” they were unbeaten on 22 and 46 respectively – Yorkshire 82-1.

Match drawn.
