Lancashire won the toss and elected to bowl, a decision fully vindicated when they dismissed Yorkshire for 75 in 34.5 overs.
From the start the wicket had variable bounce, a “quality” their pace attack took full advantage of. Liam Hurt took 5 for 17 in 10.5 overs and there were 3 wickets for 9 runs for Danny Lamb, 1 for Bohannon and a run out.
Andrew Hodd made 16 with Loten, Birkhead, Wainman and “extras” reaching double figures.
Rob Jones and Brown almost put them in to the lead before the latter was caught at mid wicket by Anjam from the bowling of Matthew Taylor – he made 35 from 50 balls with 7 fours. Jones went on to his half century from 100 balls with 9 fours before he was caught behind off Wainman for 76 from 146 balls with 12 fours – he and Croft had added 100 in 156 balls – 7 balls later Azeem Rafiq took a smart, low catch at extra cover from James Logans bowling and Lancashire were 176-3.
They reached the close without further loss at 266-3, a lead of 191 – Bohannon 28no and Guest 40no.
