Day one

Due to overnight rain and drizzle throughout the morning there was no play before lunch. However under clearing skies the toss took place and 56 overs were scheduled for the day. Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Matt Milnes struck in the third over having Crawshaw caught behind by Harry Duke (6-1). There followed a partnership of 45 between Kelly and Whitfield before the latter was caught off a leading edge at mid off by Matthew Fisher to give Joel Gunn his first wicket. Gunn struck again shortly before tea bowling Kelly for 27 – at tea Durham were 92-3.

Milnes returned after tea at the Finchale end and within 12 balls had taken 3-0 all bowled and Durham were 100-6. Jack Shutt had Liam Trevaskis caught by Will Fraine at slip for 22; 119-7, however Darwood and McAlindon both remained unbeaten at the close as the hosts totalled 145-7.
