Durham 2nd XI won the toss and opted to bat first

Report

Yorkshire maintained their 100% record in this year’s Trophy with a three wicket win with 7.1 overs to spare.

On a cloudy, cool but dry morning Durham won the toss and elected to bat first. Josh Shaw had Pringle well caught at mid wicket by Josh Poysden in the second over and shortly after Steel was caught at mid off by Matt Pillans from the bowling of Matthew Fisher. Durham were 14-2.

Greenwell and Richardson added 65 in 103 balls before Karl Carver took a well judged catch at deep mid wicket to give Jordan Thompson a wicket. Richardson had made 32 from 56 balls. Josh Poysden took the first of his three wickets by removing Carse for 19, shortly followed by bowling Greenwell for 47, made in 96 balls including a six and 2 fours.

111 for three became 168 all out. Poysden finished with 3 for 34 from his 10 overs and Jordan Thompson 3 for 26 from nine.

Our reply followed a similar path to that of Durham’s innings. Ben Birkhead and Will Fraine both departed with the score at 15. Jordan Thompson made 34 from 24 balls with a six and 5 fours and Matt Fisher 33 from 47 and we were 87-4 in the 20th over.

Ed Barnes made a patient 25 from 79 but it was a hard hitting 34 from 32 balls by Matt Pillans that finally swung the game our way and Skipper, Jared Warner was unbeaten at the end with 17 when Karl Carver hit the winning run.

Our travels recommence as we head to Kidderminster on Sunday to play a Trophy game on Monday followed by a 3 day Championship match.
