Report

Yorkshire wrapped up their second Championship win of the season, beating Derbyshire by 5 wickets.

The final day commenced with Yorkshire chasing a victory target of 380. Will Fraine and Bilal Anjam opened and posted a half century from 69 balls. Will went on to post his own half century from 68 balls with 9 fours. They had added 103 in 143 balls when Bilal was caught behind for 31 from 66 balls shortly before lunch. Lunch was taken with Yorkshire on 116-1 requiring a further 264 runs for victory.

There was a rather sedate start to the afternoon session as 12 were added in the first 6 overs, however Will and Finlay Bean brought up a 50 partnership in 89 balls – Finlay was lbw to Karvelas for 28 in 57 balls. Shortly after Will Fraine made his second hundred in consecutive Championship games as he reached that figure from 142 balls – he went on to post 124 from 158 balls before being stumped from a ricochet off the keepers pads – his innings included 21 fours.

Skipper, Jordan Thompson, was joined by Matthew Revis and at tea we had advanced to 255-3 requiring a further 125 for victory. This pair added 92 in 143 balls before Matthew was caught at backward point – he made 40 from 76 balls with 6 fours. Jordan had reached his half century shortly before losing Matthew – it came from 75 balls with 4 fours and a six and he remained unbeaten as victory was sealed. He made 92 not out from 120 balls with a further 5 fours.

Matthew Fisher fell without scoring but Ben Birkhead was also unbeaten at the end with 33 from 32 balls.
