As we count down to the start of the new season, in a new weekly feature, we look back at some of Yorkshire’s highlights throughout last summer, be it great wins or memorable individual performances……

Questions had been asked right the way through pre-season regarding Ben Coad’s ability to back up his 50-wicket breakthrough campaign in 2017.

A one season wonder? Not a bit of it.

Coad started 2018 in grand style with 10 wickets in the match as Nottinghamshire were on the wrong end of a clinical Yorkshire performance, albeit one which started shakily.

After seven straight days of washed out cricket to start the year, including the opening round Specsavers County Championship clash with champions Essex at Emerald Headingley, Coad played the lead role in making the wait for cricket very much worth it.
