County Stats (19/20 season)

  • Josh Sullivan is a leg-spinner from Leeds who once claimed 5-2 whilst playing for Yorkshire’s Under 14s side.

The older brother of White Rose Academy left-arm spinner Harry, Josh claimed 26 wickets for the Academy and second-team in 2019.

He has represented the county at Under 14s, 15s and 17s as well as the Academy and the second team, the latter across the last two seasons.

In three years of Academy cricket so far between 2017 and 2019, he has claimed 65 wickets with a best of 5-73 early last year in a Yorkshire Premier League North victory over Beverley Town.

His five appearances for the seconds in 2018 and 2019 have yielded four wickets.

Yorkshire’s coaching staff have been impressed with his winter work ahead of the 2020. At present, he is seen as more of a red ball bowler than a white ball bowler: “He’s a slower leg-spinner,” says Academy director and second-team coach Ian Dews. “He certainly spins it.”

Sullivan represented the ECB’s Elite Player Development North Under 17s side in 2018, although had to deal with a stress fracture in his back around the age of 16.

His aforementioned 5-2 came in a 45-over win over Lincolnshire Under 14s at Scunthorpe in July 2014, with the White Rose winning by five wickets having bowled the hosts out for 85.

Sullivan bowled nine overs including a fabulous eight maidens.
