All-action Abi is ready to shine

Abi Glen, the Leeds-born all-rounder, made her senior debut for the Northern Diamonds in 2022, making a quartet of T20 appearances in the Charlotte Edwards Cup. She showed glimpses of the talent, and built on that by playing 11 times in 2023.

Glen is a versatile cricketer who can bat anywhere in the order added to bowling her seamers, which yielded a quintet of two-wicket hauls across both the CE Cup and the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy in 2023.

She had started 2022 by opened the batting in the season-opening win at Lightning alongside Lauren Winfield-Hill and hit a quick-fire 25 – her best score in regional cricket to date.

Glen, who will be 23 by the time the new summer starts, offers power with the bat and good pace with the ball.

Her development has been stunted somewhat having suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in recent years.

She has progressed through the Yorkshire age-group sides through to senior county cricket. On her Under 13s debut, in 2013, she claimed 3-2 from just one over as Derbyshire were bowled out for only 21 in a big Yorkshire victory in a 35-over fixture.

In her fourth appearance, a win over Staffordshire, she hit a measured 58 not out from number four.

Glen made her senior Yorkshire debut in 2018, shortly after her 17th birthday.

In 2022, in the semi-final of the regional County T20 Cup, she shone in a win against Derbyshire with 2-22 from four overs and then 52 not out opening the batting in pursuit of 110.
