Report: Yorkshire 2nd XI vs Worcestershire 2nd XI - Day Three

The heavy rain from yesterday and overnight resulted in a delayed start at North Marine Road. Play resumed at 11.15am with 92 overs to be bowled.

Yorkshire continued their innings and took their total to 505-6 before declaring, leaving a 40 minute period prior to lunch. The wickets to fall were Ben Birkhead caught at long leg for 25 and Tom Loten caught by wicketkeeper, Cullen for 27. Harry Allinson remained not out on 34 from 37 deliveries with four fours and a six.

In the nine overs bowled up to lunch we reduced Worcestershire to 26-3, a wicket for Dominic Leech and a double wicket maiden for Duanne Olivier.

The afternoon session saw 28 overs bowled and our visitors lost a further four wickets to reach tea at 103-7. Ali top scored with 45 from 57 balls and there was a second wicket for Leech with two for Loten and one for Revis. All seven wickets fell to catches behind the stumps with four for Tom Kohler-Cadmore at first slip.

Gibbon and Ul-Hassan had added 47 for the eighth wicket before the latter became the eighth catch behind (third slip) and the last two wickets fell to Tom Loten, both lbw to give him figures of 9.5-5-19-5 – Worcestershire all out for 135.

The follow on was enforced and Mohammed was caught at third slip in the third over but the day finished at 6.46pm without a further breakthrough, Worcestershire closing on 95-1; Cornall 36 not out and Fell 53 not out from 71 balls with seven fours.

Final day beckons with our visitors trailing by 275.
