LIVE BLOG: YORKSHIRE V WARWICKSHIRE, LVCC, DAY 4

— 15 September 2021

LIVE STREAM Here is a link to today’s action via our Match Centre page https://yorkshireccc.com/news/view/9526/live-stream-yorkshire-vs-warwickshire

Yorkshire coach Andrew Gale said

“It was disappointing to end in the fashion we did this morning because I think when people play against Yorkshire, they know we’re a hard team to beat. But I thought we were a bit soft to not take the game past lunch. Credit to Warwickshire, they’ve bowled well throughout the game.
“We should have bowled them out a bit cheaper in the first innings, but I was more disappointed with the batting in the first innings. We should have got level, if not a 50 lead. I thought 200 was about right, but we didn’t apply ourselves as well as we could. I reckon that’s where the game got away from us.
“You have to grab key moments in games to win trophies, and that first innings was a key moment. If we’d have batted better, we could have put the game to bed.

2.02pm Here is the picture ahead of next week’s final round….

Yorkshire can still qualify for the Bob Willis Trophy final at Lord’s by finishing in the top two places in Division One.

Only 6.5 points now separate the top four teams in the table heading into the final week of the Championship, starting on Tuesday.

Hampshire are top on 58.5 points followed by Warwickshire 55, Lancashire 54.5 and Nottinghamshire 52. Then come Yorkshire 41.5 and Somerset 26.5.

Yorkshire travel to Trent Bridge to face Notts, while Lancashire host Hampshire at Liverpool and Warwickshire face Somerset at Edgbaston.

12.13pm Coad gone! That’s it. Warwickshire have won. 117 all out – 106-run win. Caught mid-on. Unfortunately, with that our title hopes are over. We can still qualify for the Bob Willis final, however.

12.06pm WICKET Would you believe it, Bresnan again at first slip. Six catches in the innings. Miles takes the wicket, Patterson falls. 114-9 now.

11.53am WICKET Norwell gets Thompson caught at slip by Bresnan, 18. Yorkshire are 105-8 in the 46th.

That’s five catches at first slip for Bresnan.

11.32am WICKET Duke caught and bowled by Miles. Yorkshire fall to 95-7 in the 41st.

11.21am WICKET Bess trapped lbw by Bresnan for 4. Yorkshire are 82-6 chasing 224.

11.08am Bresnan comes into the attack from the Emerald Stand End, replacing Norwell. Thompson and Brook need a partnership here. Yorkshire 77-5.

10.56am WICKET Bresnan’s at it again. Fourth first slip catch. Woakes gets Brook, 9. Yorkshire are 69-5 in the 33rd.

10.30am WICKET Ballance caught at second slip by Hain off Woakes, third ball of the day. Yorkshire 50-4.

Good morning from Emerald Headingley.

It is a dry and bright morning ahead of day four of our Championship clash with Warwickshire.

After yesterday’s rain, the covers are off and the ground all set for the players to begin their warm-ups.

Yorkshire will begin the day on 50-3 chasing 224. Gary Ballance is unbeaten on 21 with Harry Brook likely to join him.

We already know the picture in Division One after the other two games were concluded yesterday, Lancashire beating Somerset at Taunton and Hampshire beating Nottinghamshire.

Hampshire have 58.5 and lead the way, Lancashire 54.5, Notts 52, Yorkshire 41.5, Warwickshire 39.

A win today and Yorkshire would go second ahead of next week’s final round.

We get going at 10.30am, and there will be a live stream available once more.
