Day two commenced with Yorkshire 207-2, however Wharton could only add 2 to his overnight 81 before being bowled having faced 253 balls, hitting 8 fours. George Hill was lbw for 5 shortly after the new ball had been taken but Jonny Tattersall reached his 50 from 109 balls with 5 fours. He also fell lbw, for 62 and we were 248-5.

Skipper, Matthew Waite was well caught at second slip for 13 and Yorkshire were 249-6. Ben Birkhead (21no) and Matthew Revis (26 no) navigated the White Rose to two extra batting points as they reached 300-6 three balls before the end of the 110th over. This also being lunch, Yorkshire declared.

Lancashire reached tea at 78-1, Owais Shah being stumped by Ben Birkhead from the bowling of Jack Shutt for 51 (including 7 fours). Shortly after tea Matthew Waite had Cornall (the same player who got a big hundred for the University against us earlier this year) lbw for 25. Skipper, Rob Jones and keeper, George Lavelle added 47 before the former was well taken down the leg side by Ben Birkhead off the bowling of Dominic Leech.

There was a sudden change of tempo by our visitors as they added 45 in 33 balls declaring at 195-5 giving Yorkshire a lead of 105 and a potentially awkward 10 overs to negotiate – this was accomplished as Will Fraine and James Wharton reached 22 at the close – Yorkshire lead by 127.
