Northern Superchargers fixtures released

— 23 February 2021

The Northern Superchargers men’s and women’s teams will begin their inaugural Hundred campaigns with clashes against the Welsh Fire at Emerald Headingley on Saturday July 24.

Every Superchargers match day is a double header, with eight group fixtures scheduled between July 24 and August 17.

The opening round throws up the prospect of Yorkshire star Jonny Bairstow returning to home turf with his Welsh Fire side.

Bairstow is currently one of seven White Rose men’s players involved across the Hundred, but that number is likely to rise when today’s final draft picks are revealed.

Bairstow (Welsh Fire), Joe Root and Dawid Malan (both Trent Rockets) and Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Adam Lyth, Adil Rashid and David Willey (all Northern Superchargers) have already been selected to feature.

Seventeen other Yorkshire players went into the final draft, which was conducted yesterday and will be revealed throughout today.

The eight-team competition sees everybody play each other once, while you play your local rivals twice.

For the Northern Superchargers, captained by Australian limited overs skipper Aaron Finch, that is the Emirates Old Trafford based Manchester Originals.

The Superchargers teams travel to OId Trafford on Wednesday July 28 before the return at Headingley on Thursday August 12 – the penultimate round of group action.

Lord’s will host both the men’s and women’s finals on Saturday August 21, with the Eliminator fixtures at the Oval the day before.

The top team after the group stage advances straight through to the final.

The Eliminator is played out between the teams finishing second and third in the group. The winner advances to the final.

The Hundred will launch with a standalone women’s match at the Oval on Wednesday July 21, between Oval Invicibles and Manchester Originals. The men’s teams will then play the same fixture the following day.

After that, every other fixture for all teams is a double header with the men and women on the same day.

Tickets for The Hundred will go on sale to Yorkshire Members and T20 Season Ticket holders at 10am today.

The ECB say affordability for families has been prioritised, with tickets for U16s at £5 and adult tickets starting at £10 for two games (women’s and men’s match). Kids U5 go free.

Refund policies will be in place if matches are impacted by Covid.
