2nd XI Report: Sussex vs Yorkshire (Day One)

Winning the toss we elected to bat first with James Wharton and Matthew Revis opening the innings and they both remained unbeaten at lunch – James on 39 not out and Matthew 43 not out as we totalled 92.

The hundred partnership was brought up shortly after lunch and we had progressed to 120 before Wharton was lbw for 49 from 146 balls with 6 fours and 1 six. Revis reached his half century from 106 balls and prior to tea he reached a century from 189 balls with 13 fours – he and Tom Loten had added 87 for the second wicket from 172 balls. Tea was reached with us 207-1.

Tom Loten reached his half century from 121 balls including 6 fours and he went on to reach his century from 171 balls with 15 fours. Loten and Revis had added 221 from 330 balls when Loten was caught at deep mid wicket for 115 (15 fours and a six) and at the close we had posted 349-2 with Matthew Revis a superb 168 not out from 291 balls with 20 fours.
