Second XI T20s

Marske CC

Match one

Durham 2nd XI won by 29 runs

Match two

Our T20 campaign concluded at a sunny but breezy Marske in front of a large crowd. As ever credit must be given to all those involved with organising the day but special mention to retiring Secretary, Neil Harvey and John McVeigh.

Winning the toss we asked Durham to bat first and they took full advantage amassing 218 for 6 in their 20 overs. Despite losing Adair first ball, Liam Trevaskis made 40 from 27 balls and Jack Burnham 45 from 21 but the main damage was down to Stuart Poynter who made 70 from only 29 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes. Josh Shaw had 2-51 and Matthew Taylor 2-28.

Jack Leaning made 20 and Matthew Waite 44 from only 18 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes but the fact that we got within 29 runs was down to Will Fraine with 73 from 46 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes.

Fraine continued his fine form in the second game making 49 from 27 balls and Bilal Anjam made 41 from 39 as we totalled 168 all out. For Durham Main took 3-33 and Scott Steel 2-6.

Durham completed the double by reaching their target for the loss of only three wickets with 15 balls to spare – Scott Steel also making 63 from 35 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes as Josh Shaw took 2-17.

The day saw a total of 67 fours and 34 sixes.

A T20 friendly day takes place Wednesday 7th August against Leicestershire at York.
