Kent: Yorkshire’s opposition have progressed to the semi-final stages courtesy of an abandoned game between Glamorgan and Essex. Their campaign has seen a number of batsmen making valuable contributions with Sean Dickson and Jordan Cox in the runs. One danger man for the Yorkshire bowlers to watch out for is Grant Stewart, who hit a remarkable 112 runs off just 57 balls against Middlesex.
Yorkshire have progressed to the semi-final courtesy of four wins and two defeats in the group stages of this year’s Trophy competition. The White Rose opened their campaign with two emphatic victories; defeating Roses rivals Lancashire by 210 runs before going even better, beating Nottinghamshire by 264 runs. A three wicket win over Durham, followed by two defeats at the hands of Worcestershire and Leicestershire left Yorkshire needing a win in the final game to qualify. In a low-scoring affair, Yorkshire completed their victory over Derbyshire by 52 runs. A large number of players contributed throughout the campaign, with players coming into the side from the first team, young player getting their first opportunity for the second XI and regulars pushing for a spot in Steve Patterson’s squad.
The Final of the Second Eleven Trophy will take place on Thursday 27th June at a venue to be be confirmed. Somerset and Durham are the teams competing in the other semi-final.
