STAMFORD BRIDGE V YORKSHIRE ACADEMY

After the opening Yorkshire League North fixture at Harrogate was abandoned without a ball bowled the Academy visited a cold and windy Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The hosts batted first and were soon struggling at 49 for 4 in the 19th over. Oliver Sherwood and Dominic Rhodes led a recovery with a 5th wicket partnership of 88 before Rhodes was dismissed for 56 from 46 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals and the hosts were 195 all out with a ball remaining from the allocated 50 overs.
All of the Academy bowlers took wickets with Harry Harding returning figures of 4 for 21 from 7.5 overs and a maiden.
In the reply James Wharton and Finlay Bean gave the Academy an excellent start with a partnership of 115 from 176 balls before Bean was dismissed for 62 from 91 balls with 9 fours and a six. Wharton was run out for 49 from 102 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Wickets began to fall and the run rate started to creep up. The only other batsmen to reach double figures was Dominic Leech with 20. The Academy managed to survive the last over to finish on 179 for 9 from their allocated 50 overs.
James Keast did the damage as he picked up for 5 for 53 from his 13 overs.

YORKSHIRE ACADEMY V STAMFORD BRIDGE
Yorkshire League North – Monday 6 May.
In Monday’s league fixture brought forward from July the Academy were hosts to Stamford Bridge in the return league fixture.
The Academy batted first and finished on 155 for 3 from 35 overs when rain curtailed the proceedings. The stand in captain James Wharton top scored with 78 from 89 balls with 11 fours and Arjun Ramkumar 48 not out from 60 balls which included 7 fours and a six. The two batsmen put on 89 for the 3rd wicket from 96 balls.
