2nd XI Report: Yorkshire v Nottinghamshire (Day two)

Play on day two was delayed by rain until Noon and Matthew Fisher struck with his 1st ball trapping Gibson lbw – Notts 1-2. The following over saw Jared Warner uproot skipper, James’ off stump and they were 4-3.

Wood and Pattterson-White took the score to 50 in 103 balls before the latter was well caught at 2nd slip by Jordan Thompson off the bowling of Dominic Leech who has replaced Ed Barnes in the team. However at 1.22 pm the rain made a further appearance and at 1.30 pm lunch was taken. It continued with the addition of thunder and lightning but the groundstaff worked extremely hard and a restart was made at 3.30 pm with 23 overs being lost.

A further delay resulted in another 4 overs being lost, so at 3.45pm 57.1 overs remained in the day.

In the 2nd over after the restart Wood was caught low down at backward point By Jack Shutt off DominicLeech, soon to be followed by Hall who was bowled by Jared Warner. Leverock and Scodendorf added only 8 before the latter became the 9th lbw dismissal in the game – Notts 77-7.

Leverock and Blatherwick added 43 in 54 balls before Tom Loten bowled the latter but at tea Notts had reached 134-8 avoiding the follow on. Jack Shutt bowled Leverock with the 5th ball following the resumption but following a clap of thunder the players left the field at 6.12pm with Notts 137-9, trailing by 141.
Play was abandoned for the day at 6.30pm.
