— 25 April 2019

Day one began with cool, overcast conditions – Yorkshire won the toss and batted.

Will Fraine and Finlay Bean added 29 before the latter was adjudged lbw for eight. Tom Loten joined Fraine and they added 57 from 77 balls before Fraine was caught behind for 35 from 79 balls, including five fours.

Loten was unbeaten at lunch on 52 – his 50 came from 74 balls with eight fours and had added 51 with Jordan Thompson – at lunch, Yorkshire 137-2.

Post lunch Yorkshire added a further 38 before Thompson was lbw for 32 from 62 balls – he had shared a partnership of 89 with Loten from 122 balls. However 175-2 became 241-8 at tea.

Loten made 75 from 120 balls with eight fours, however at tea Yorkshire’s second top scorer was “extras” with 39.

Tea was taken when initially bad light brought a halt and then rain – 246-8. Yorkshire’s innings was quickly wrapped up, dismissed for 278 including seven lbw dismissals.

Matthew Fisher took a wicket with his fourth ball but two balls later the players were taken off the field due to bad light followed by rain – this persisted and play was called off for the day at 6.20pm.
