On another glorious day, Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bat first. Alex Lees and Tom Kohler-Cadmore shared an opening partnership of 105 from 131 balls before Alex was caught behind – he made 67 from 77 balls including 13 fours.
Tom Loten departed, caught behind down the leg side without scoring but at lunch we were 133-2 from 32 overs; Jack Leaning 8 no and Tom Kohler-Cadmore unbeaten on 56 from 79 balls with 11 boundary fours.
During the afternoon session Jack and Tom took their partnership to 194 from 236 balls before Tom was bowled for a magnificent 173 from 175 balls. His first 50 took 64 balls, second 56 and his third 35. In total he hit 24 fours and 5 sixes. Leaning reached his half century from 99 balls (5 fours). When Kohler-Cadmore was dismissed Yorkshire were 304-3 and this became 319-5 as Matthew Waite was lbw for 1 and Jack Leaning stumped from the last ball before tea.
Jordan Thompson made 49 from 74 balls (3×4;2×6) and 364-5 became 366-8. James Wainman hit 16 from 8 balls and we declared at 390-8 leaving Northants with 12 overs to negotiate.
At the close they were 36-1, Ben Curran being caught at the wicket by Ben Birkhead from the bowling of Karl Carver.
