On a hot day at Weetwood, the Yorkshire Academy played hosts to Harrogate.

After winning the toss the visitors elected to bat.

The openers Corrie Keable and Alexis Twigg put together a stand of 30 before the first wicket of Keable fell at 30.

After being 65 for 1 they lost three quick wickets and were struggling at 82 for 4 in the 18th over. The next wicket fell with the total on 117. A recovery took place as wicket keeper Eddie Wilson and Ollie Horberry put on 54 for the 6th wicket before Wilson was out for 51 from 73 balls with 6 fours at 171. Horberry was the eighth wicket to fall at 235 in the 47th over and made a contribution of 51 from 51 balls with 10 fours. There were 50 extras during the innings which included 15 penalty runs due to a slow over rate. As a result the final total became 258 for 9 from 50 overs.

Eddie Barnes 3 for 68, Dominic Leech 2 for 33, George Hill 3 for 59 and Josh Sullivan 1 for 25 were the wicket takers for the Academy.

In the reply the Academy got off to a steady start with Matthew Revis being the first wicket to fall at 37. James Wharton was run out for 32 with the total on 63 in the 13th over. Hill was the third batsman to be dismissed with the score now on 84. An excellent partnership of 89 from 124 between Tom Loten and Bilal Anjam for the fourth wicket before Loten was caught and bowled for 55 from 79 balls with 5 fours which left the Academy at 173 for 4 in the 36th over. Anjam was the fifth wicket to fall at 210 with his individual contribution of 40. The Academy needed 49 to win from 38 balls. Stand in captain Eddie Barnes joined wicket keeper Harry Duke and they took the score to 253 with six required from the last over. Five singles came from the first 5 balls which meant the scores were level. Duke hit the final ball to the boundary to leave the Yorkshire Academy on 262 for 5 from 50 overs.

The wickets were shared between Tom Geeson Brown 2 for 64, William Parker 1 for 48 and Cameron O’Donnell 1 for 21.

It was an excellent response by the Yorkshire Academy batsmen who all contributed to chase down the target.
