The Yorkshire Academy visited second in the table Woodhouse Grange on Saturday.
The Academy captain Ben Birkhead won the toss and elected to bat on a warm afternoon.
The Academy openers put on a stand of 47 before Matthew Revis was the first wicket to fall for 21. George Hill joined Bilal Anjam and the pair took the total to 65 in the 20th over before Anjam fell for 35. An excellent third wicket partnership of 142 from 147 balls between Hill and Tom Loten followed before Loten was out for 59 from 71 balls with 4 fours and a six with the total on 207 for 3 in the 44th over. Birkhead joined Hill and they put on 48 from only 32 balls before the captain fell to the last ball of the 49th over. Hill followed two balls later for an excellent innings of 122 from 113 balls with 14 fours and 2 sixes, which was his first century for the Academy. The innings finished on an excellent 265 for 5 from 50 overs which was their highest score of the season.
Steve Burdett 1 for 47, Tom Young 1 for 42, James Finch 2 for 88 and Chris Suddaby 1 for 37 were the wicket takers for the hosts.
In the reply Woodhouse Grange lost their first wicket in the opening over and were soon struggling at 50 for 4. Andrew Bilton and wicket keeper Mike Burdett led a recovery as they put on 48 for the the 5th wicket. Opener Andrew Bilton continued to resist the bowlers and was the 8th wicket to fall with the total on 179 in the 42nd over with his own score of 95 from 133 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes. The final two wickets were taken quickly as the home side were 190 all out in the 46th over.
The wickets were shared between Eddie Barnes 4 for 20, Tom Loten 2 for 11, Bilal Anjam 3 for 36 and James Mukherjee 1 for 16.
It was an impressive all round performance by the Yorkshire Academy.
