LIVE BLOG: DERBYSHIRE V YORKSHIRE VIKINGS, RLODC

— 30 May 2018

Some reaction from Matthew Fisher

“We’re absolutely delighted,” said Fisher.

“We needed probably two out of three wins, including this game, to qualify.

“Getting one on the board early is good.

“We lost wickets at times along the chase to make it harder.

“I always back us to win with our line-up. Usually I’d be disappointed at 10, but the lads we have ahead of me deserve to be there. They are top quality batters.

“People don’t see how hard you work in the nets and how hard you practice.

“Every single one of our lads were batting in the indoor nets when the rain was coming down. Thankfully it paid off.

“We were chatting just before I went in, and I said to the lads ‘There’s only one winner here, and it’s us’. You have to have that mentality because if you go out there with any negativity, you’re going to lose.”

What A Win

6.50pm Tattersall and Rashid the latest men to fall to Rampaul, lbw and caught behind. 155-7 after 21. 35 needed off three.

6.30pm Ballance gone. Bowled by Olivier for 27 as he tries to scoop to fine-leg. Breaks a 61-stand with Kohler-Cadmore. 132-4 in the 18th

6.25pm Ooh, big hit from Kohler-Cadmore, who launches Critchley over wide long-on for six to move to 59. 125-3 in the 17th. 65 to win.

6.15pm Yorkshire need 85 off 10 overs. They are 105-3 after 14. Tom Kohler-Cadmore has 46 and Gary Ballance, having been dropped at deep cover on 11, has 21.

5.56pm Che Pujara is lbw to Matt Critchley’s leg-spinners for 14. Yorkshire are 71-3 in the ninth.

5.37pm Adam Lyth has gone for 19, caught at mid-on off Ravi Rampaul (slower ball). David Willey in at number three. 43-1 after five. And now David Willey top-edges a pull at Olivier and is caught at mid-wicket. 43-2 in the sixth.

5.34pm Yorkshire really moving now. They are 42-0 in the fifth over, including five sixes – three to Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

5.22pm Yorkshire have started their chase by playing out a Wayne Madsen maiden. 190 to win in 23 overs.

Mid-innings report

Yorkshire require 190 in 24 overs to beat Derbyshire in today’s rain-affected Royal London one-day Cup clash at the 3aaa County Ground.

David Willey claimed 4-47 from four overs on his return from IPL duty, including 21 off his first over and 15 off his last. Willey was superb in between, while Tim Bresnan’s 1-19 from four was very impressive.

Derbyshire did not make the most of their flying start. They were 52-0 after five overs and 97-1 after 12. Opener Ben Slater led the Derbyshire innings with 109 not out, although Luis Reece retired hurt with a suspected broken ankle suffered as he attempted to complete a run.

Yorkshire dragged things back expertly after erring in line and length early on.

5.02pm Ben Slater reaches his century off 77 balls. 178-5 after 23 overs. One to come.

4.47pm David Willey has returned to the attack and struck twice in two balls, bowling Gary Wilson as he attempted to scoop and getting Matt Critchley caught behind down leg. 157-4 in the 20th.

4.41pm Five overs left and Derbyshire are 152-2. David Willey returns and for Derbyshire, Luis Reece has had to retire hurt with an ankle injury. Slater 85 not out.

4.27pm We have seven overs remaining in the Derbyshire innings and they are 135-2. Ben Slater has 79 and Luis Reece 8.

4.07pm Derbyshire have laid a handy platform here, with Ben Slater just reaching a 39-ball fifty a few moments ago. Tim Bresnan is currently searching for the Vikings second wicket.

3.53pm Adil Rashid strikes to get Billy Godleman caught at deep mid-wicket by Tim Bresnan, really good catch. Derbyshire are now 72-1 after nine overs.

3.37pm Derbyshire are 52-0 after five overs, the end of the power play, as Slater top-edges a pull at Fisher over long-leg for six.

3.23pm Derbyshire off to a flyer at 28-0 after two overs, including 21 off David Willey’s first.

3.14pm Matt Fisher’s first ball of the match is pulled for four by Ben Slater. We are playing under floodlights.

3.08pm We are set for a 24 overs per side contest here from 3.15pm

3.01pm We are set for a start at 3.15pm. We haven’t had a confirmation of overs yet, but it should be in the region of 23-25.

2.22pm The rain has returned to Derby. The main cover is on the pitch, but the ground staff aren’t putting the others on yet, which is at least a positive sign.

2.08pm Yorkshire won the toss and will bowl first.

Derbyshire: Godleman c, Slater, Reece, Madsen, Critchley, Wilson, Hughes, Smit w, Viljeon, Olivier, Rampaul.

Yorkshire: Lyth, Kohler-Cadmore, Pujara, Ballance, Willey, Rashid, Bresnan, Tattersall w, Plunkett, Patterson c, Fisher.

1.34pm Good news…..We have a confirmed start of 2.30pm, 29 overs per side. Four bowlers can bowl six overs and one can bowl five.

12.52pm The mopping up process looks to have been a successful one. If I had to guess, I’d say 3pm start.

12.15pm Good news, it’s stopped raining. The ground staff are mopping up as we speak, with the covers coming off.

11.30am Lunch will be taken at Derby at 1pm. It is still raining, although not as heavy as it was. Fingers crossed for some better news later on.

10.45am There are three other games in the Royal London today, including two in the South which are looking good for a start on time – Essex v Glamorgan at Chelmsford and Middlesex v Hampshire at Merchant Taylors’ School.

The other is Warwickshire v Northamptonshire at Edgbaston this afternoon (2pm) start.

No change to this scene since it was posted half an hour ago

Good morning from the 3aaa County Ground, Derby, where it is raining heavily at the moment.

Although the locals suggest we will get some play in today’s Royal London one-day Cup match, it may not be until later this afternoon, maybe 3-4pm.

Yorkshire have arrived here chasing a third win from their sixth match of the group campaign. They are one point behind Derbyshire, who currently hold second place having won three of their first four matches.

David Willey will return to the side after his recent stint at the Indian Premier League with champions Chennai Super Kings.
