Yorkshire Academy v Sheriff Hutton Bridge

On a warm day the Academy hosted second in the table Sheriff Hutton Bridge on Saturday.

The Visitors won the toss and inserted Yorkshire Academy.
The Academy soon lost both openers to leave them at 19 for 2 in the seventh over. Tom Loten fell for 5 with the total on 30 which was disappointing after his excellent start to the season. The fourth wicket fell at 46 to leave the Academy struggling against accurate bowling. A recovery took place as Bilal Anjam and captain Ben Birkhead put together a stand of 91 from 139 balls before Anjam was dismissed for 54, his first 50 of the season. His innings lasted 82 balls with 7 fours. Another wicket fell shortly afterwards and then Birkhead was out for an excellent 72 from 108 balls with 7 fours. The Academy finished on 207 for 8 after 50 overs

The wickets were shared between Mark Fisher 3 for 32, Karl Carver 1 for 37, Russell Robinson 1 for 55 and Ben Harrison 3 for 63.

The Sheriff Hutton Bridge openers put on an excellent partnership of 97 from 161 balls before Adam Fisher was out for 39. Overseas Dulash Udahanga joined Mark Fisher and they put together a second wicket partnership of 93 for 94 balls before Mark Fisher was dismissed for an excellent 88 from 124 balls with 12 fours. The visitors didn’t lose any further wickets as they reached the victory target and finished on 211 for 2 from 43.4 overs.

Joshua Sullivan was the only wicket taker with 2 for 35 from 7.4 overs.

On a sunny and very warm day the Academy hosted newly promoted Sessay.

The Visitors won the toss and inserted Yorkshire Academy.
The Academy openers put on 44 before Wharton was dismissed. Bilal Anjam joined Matthew Revis and they put together a stand of 51 for the second before Anjam was out for 36 with 8 fours. Tom Loten joined Revis and they put on a third wicket partnership of 62 before Revis was stumped for 56 from 107 balls with 5 fours. George Hill came to the wicket and together with Revis took the score to 204 before Hill was dismissed. Loten continued his excellent start to the season with 58 from 64 balls with 3 fours before he was the fifth wicket to fall at 210. At the end of the 50 overs the Academy had their highest total of the season with 237 for 6.

Stuart Pierse 3 for 53, Navin Kavikara 2 for 59 and Matthew Till 1 for 32 were the wicket takers for the visitors.

Sessay lost both openers with the total on 8 and were soon 43 for 5. The late order batsmen showed some resistance were wicket keeper Nick Harrison with 59 from 104 balls with 6 fours and Liam Carver 29. The pair put on 52 for the eigth wicket. The visitors were all out for 158 in 44.5 overs.

The wickets were taken by Matthew Taylor 2 for 27, George Hill 1 for 11, Harry Sullivan 4 for 26 from 11 overs and Josh Sullivan 3 for 43 from 11.5 overs.

The Academy are at home to Driffield on Saturday and visit them in the Cup on Sunday.
