Warwickshire 2nd XI won the toss and opted to bowl first.
On a glorious morning Warwickshire won the toss and asked us to bat first. Alex Lees opened the batting with debutant, 17-year-old James Wharton. The total had reached 18 when Wharton was caught behind for 11 from 35 balls.
Jonny Tattersall joined his skipper and they added 68 in 88 balls before Lees was bowled for 41 from 64 balls with 6 fours and a six. Tom Loten made 26 from 67 before he was run out with the score at 139. At this juncture Tattersall was 44 not out from 113 balls and he reached his 50 from 125 balls with 6 fours.
Jordan Thompson joined Tattersall and together they took the score to 247 when Jordan was caught at first slip for 54 – he faced 64 balls and hit 6 fours and 2 sixes. George Hill departed shortly after for one and at tea we had reached 253-5 from 72 overs.
In the second over after tea Jonny Tattersall reached his third championship century from 204 balls with 13 fours and a six – he went on to make 132 (his highest championship score) from 248 balls having added 4 further fours.
We were dismissed for 338 leaving eight overs to play – those overs were wicketless and Warwickshire closed on 43 without loss.
