2ND XI REPORT: YORKSHIRE V DURHAM (SEC)

Day 2 began with Durham declaring at their overnight total of 363-5.

Our reply began in good style with Openers, Alex Lees and Tom Kohler-Cadmore adding 93 for the first wicket before the latter was bowled by Charlie Hartley for 38 from 52 balls (7 fours). Those 93 had taken only 20.1 overs and Lees was unbeaten on 41 – he reached his half century from 90 balls which included 8 fours.

Lunch was taken with our reply at 120-1 from 33 overs – Lees 52 no and Jonny Tattersall 14 no.

The afternoon session saw 39 overs bowled with 116 runs scored and four wickets lost. Lees and Tattersall took their partnership to 61 before the former was caught behind for 64 from 159 balls with 10 fours.

Tom Loten was lbw first ball and Tattersall was caught at square leg for 35 from 85 balls and we had gone from 154-1 to 157-4.

Jordan Thompson and Matthew Fisher steadied the ship taking the score to 207 before Thompson was lbw for 20 from 54 balls. At tea Yorkshire were 236-5.

The White Rose declared at 309-6 when Matthew Fisher was caught at long off for an excellent 84 from 103 balls including 8 fours and 3 sixes. Ed Barnes had shared a partnership of 102 from 110 balls and finished unbeaten on 37 from 55 balls with 5 fours.

18 overs remained in the day and Durham closed on 61-2, Ryan Pringle unbeaten on 37 from 40 (5×4; 1×6) and 1st innings centurion, Ryan Davies unbeaten on 15. Both wickets fell lbw to Jordan Thompson and there was a “bowling debut” for 17-year-old Josh Sullivan.

This leaves Durham ahead by 115 going in to the final day.
