2ND XI REPORT: LANCASHIRE V YORKSHIRE (DAY TWO)

— 19 April 2018

Scorecard

Day two began under overcast skies with no sign of the expected “golden orb” in the sky (it did make an appearance later in the day) and Lancashire resuming on 96-1.

Danny Lamb had reached his 50 from 71 balls with 9 fours but fell shortly after for 58, caught at second slip by Tom Kohler-Cadmore from Matthew Waite’s bowling.

Opener Rob Jones continued on his serene way reaching his 50 from 114 balls with 8 fours and a six. With Stephen Parry he added 80 for the third wicket before Jones gave Kohler-Cadmore his third catch, reverse sweeping Karl Carver – he departed for 90 from 208 balls with 13 fours and a six.

At lunch Lancashire had reached 198-3 with Parry undefeated on 33. During the interval a declaration was made.

Alex Lees was bowled for 1 before Kohler-Cadmore and Jonathan Tattersall added 53 in 84 balls before the former was caught at deep mid wicket for 48 from 44 balls including 10 fours. Matthew Waite made 9 from 36 before falling to leg spinner, Matthew Parkinson’s first ball and he was followed two balls later by Jordan Thompson bowled for no score.

At this point (92-4) 17-year-old George Hill joined Tattersall and he showed great maturity by making 27 from 69 balls (3×4s and 1 six) to celebrate being awarded his Academy Cap prior to the days play starting.

Tattersall made 39 from 93 but we somewhat limped to 146-7 from 54 overs before declaring, trailing by 52.

13 overs were possible before the close of play and Lancashire reached 43 without loss – a lead of 95.
