Yorkshire switch their attention to preparation for this season’s Royal London one-day Cup during the next two days as they face back-to–back 50-over friendlies against Leeds/Bradford MCC Universities and Nottinghamshire.
Tomorrow sees the Vikings face the students in Potchefstroom before the RL50 champions lie in wait on Friday.
Yorkshire have been there and thereabouts in 50-over cricket during the last four years; twice beaten semi-finalists and twice beaten quarter-finalists.
They have played some excellent and exciting cricket without being able to make that all important final step.
“We have played some good cricket over the last few years in the 50-over stuff,” agreed captain Gary Ballance. “So we’ll have to make sure we don’t take it for granted. We have to keep improving.
“It’s a good opportunity against Leeds/Bradford and then Notts to get ready for the season.
“We usually play Leeds/Bradford once a year, and they’ve got some good players. We’ll have to play well to win.
“We have some talent and good young players who are keen to play and do well. They should be two good games.”
