The Club’s Chief Executive Mark Arthur, Director of Cricket Martyn Moxon and First XI coach Andrew Gale are set to appear on a special edition of West Yorkshire Sport Daily.
The hour-long show, which will be hosted by BBC Radio Leeds’ Katherine Hannah, will be broadcast live between 6-7pm on Thursday December 7 and will cover a range of topics including the 2017 season, stadium redevelopment, overseas player recruitment, 2018 and the ongoing Ashes Series Down Under.
Sports Editor, Gareth Jones, said: “We’re really excited to have Mark, Martyn and Andrew in the studio and it once again highlights the great relationship we have with the county.
“Both the club and station know how important it is to have a strong connection with your fan base and we aim for Thursday’s programme to be really informative and an opportunity to find out about everything that’s going on, on and off the field.
“We cover home and away matches throughout the season and this just shows how dedicated we are to Yorkshire Cricket and also how seriously the Club take open and honest discussion.”
Gale, whose debut season as coach proved to be a testing one, is currently overseeing the pre-season fine-tuning of his Yorkshire squad and is best placed to provide an insight as to the Club’s credentials in 2018.
“We’re back in training now and there’s a lot of excitement around the fixtures,” he said. “Throughout my career I’ve always tried to be open and honest with the Yorkshire Members. I obviously know Dave Callaghan, who travels everywhere with us, Gareth Jones, Paul Ogden, Adam Pope, the guys from football and Katherine Hannah. I know them all pretty well so it will be good to catch up with them all, have a coffee and chew the fat so to speak.
“We just want people to get right behind us next year and I thought at times the criticism was a bit unfair on the players and myself. We always try our best and we don’t go out there to lose. We’re putting in the hard yards throughout the winter and hopefully we can carry some success back on to the field.”
The show will be broadcast on all normal Radio Leeds frequencies, as well as being streamed live on the station’s official Facebook page, with Members and supporters invited to contribute via the usual email address – email@example.com or on Twitter via @WYSDaily. If you miss the live broadcast you can listen again via BBC Iplayer.
“We’re very happy to answer any questions about how we’re planning for next year,” said Arthur. “Obviously, a lot of people are asking questions about what happened last year and we’ve done an awful lot of soul searching. I think we’ve laid some of the concerns to rest and we’ve now got a way forward on the cricket playing side of things.
“We’ve got a wonderful relationship with Radio Leeds and they support all facets of Yorkshire cricket really well. Throughout the season we know they are there as one of our main mediums to put across what is happening at Yorkshire. People will be aware that not everybody has the time to watch every day’s play of cricket, therefore the communications via Radio Leeds are essential.”
