Shortly before 5pm Matthew Waite hoisted Will Jacks for a 6 to seal a 6 wicket victory that, in all honesty, was unlikely first thing this morning. That victory was sealed was credit to all involved.
An overnight declaration left Surrey ahead by 124 and when Matthew Fisher conceded 13 from the 1st over things didn’t look good.

However within the next 24 overs we dismissed Surrey for 58, with opener Welch making 33 of them. Matthew Fisher took 3-24 from 6 overs after conceding those 13 from the first; Karl Carver 3-14 from 7 and there were 2 each for James Wainman and Matthew Waite.

This left Yorkshire with 53 overs plus the mandatory last 16 to chase the 183 required. Unfortunately Harry Brook and Bilal Anjam both departed early as we were reduced to 17-2. Matthew Waite joined skipper, Jonny Tattersall and together they added 118 for the 3rd wicket in 230 balls before Jonny was caught at slip for 66. This was made from 135 balls and included 7 fours.

Matthew Waite remained there at the end (unbeaten on 69 from 142 balls) having added 33 with Matthew Fisher whose contribution was 27 from 34 balls with 4 fours. Only 5 overs of the last hour were required.
