Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North
Saturday 9 September 2017

The overnight and early morning rain cleared to enable the toss to be taken, which was won by Easingwold who elected to bat first. Unfortunately another heavy shower arrived just as the umpires and players were about to take the field. This caused a further delay. When it cleared the umpires made another inspection and decided to take an early tea with a view to start at 3.15pm with a reduction in the overs. Unfortunately during the break for tea there was another heavy shower. When that relented the umpires made another inspection and after a consultation with the captains it was decided to abandon the match with both sides receiving 3 points.

It was a disappointing end to the season for the Academy after being top with two matches left to finish third. In the Cup Competitions Yorkshire Academy lost to Harrogate in the Yorkshire League Knock Out Cup Semi Final and were losing finalists to York in the Yorkshire League North T20 Final.
York are the Yorkshire League North Champions on 176 points, Stamford Bridge runners up with 172 and the Academy 3rd (for the second successive season) on 163 points. Last year’s champions Harrogate were in 4th place a further 9 points behind. Relegated to York & District Senior Cricket League Premier Division are Hull and Easingwold. To replace them are the two promoted sides, Sessay and Castleford.

The leading run scorers for the Academy in the Yorkshire League North were Harry Brook and Jordan Thompson with 538 and 483 runs respectively. Harry Brook had the highest individual score with an innings of 178 from 135 balls with 29 fours and 3 sixes away at Woodhouse Grange. James Logan and Jordan Thompson were the leading wicket takers with 38 and 28 dismissals. James Logan also returned the best bowling figures with 6 for 30 from 9 overs with 2 maidens at home to Acomb.
