Resuming at 34-1 Yorkshire surpassed Durhams efforts of yesterday by posting an unbroken 200 prior to lunch – lunch taken at 234-1 in 45 overs.
Having lost Tattersall to the last ball of day one, Alex Lees was joined by Will Rhodes – the latter was unbeaten on 71 from 101 balls with 9 fours (his 50 from 79 balls with 7 fours). Alex completed his 50 in 64 balls with 9 fours and his 100 in 116 balls with 17 fours and a six and at lunch he was 135 no from 135 balls with 21 fours and 2 sixes. The last ball before lunch brought up the 200 partnership in only 203 balls.
39 overs were then bowled in the afternoon session with a further 200 runs scored for the loss of 5 wickets. Will Rhodes was caught behind for 77 from 110 balls including 9 fours and added 210 with Alex Lees for the 2nd wicket in 219 balls. This brought skipper Gary Ballance to the crease and he added 136 (147 balls) with Lees for the 3rd wicket before he was caught at deep mid wicket for 69 from 92 balls with7 fours and 2 sixes.
Alex completed his double hundred the next over, from 198 balls (28 fours and 2 sixes) but was out the next ball. Andrew Hodd and Jordan Thompson fell for 3 and 16 respectively and at tea we had reached 434-6. After tea Wainman and Waite took their partnership to 64 from 105 balls before the former was lbw for 26 from 48 with 3 fours. However from 484-6 we were all out for 508, Matthew Waite finished unbeaten with 59 from 93 balls with 5 fours.
8 overs remained and we were unable to make a breakthrough and Durham closed on 38-0.
