Play did not begin until 2.15 pm because of heavy overnight rain which continued into the morning. When play got underway, 79 overs remained to be bowled.
Yorkshire resumed on 3/0 and the first wicket had added a steady 45 when Jonathan Tattersall deflected a ball onto his stumps. He had earlier taken a nasty blow on his right upper arm and had to receive lengthy treatment on the field before being able to continue.
Alex Lees and Will Rhodes added another 36 and the Yorkshire innings had reached the promising position of 174/4 when the tide turned.
From there, the final six wickets could muster only another 23 runs and the innings fell away to 197 all out, a deficit of 86. Alex Lees made 50 and Will Rhodes 37 but several other batsmen got out having got themselves in.
Worcestershire began their 2nd innings with 24 overs left and had moved onto 82/2 by close of play with one wicket each for Ben Coad and Jack Brooks. Ben Birkhead took two more catches behind the stumps on his Championship debut.
At close of play (at 8.07 pm), Worcestershire led by 168 with eight second innings wickets remaining.
