It took a further 9 overs to take the last wicket, that of Sutton for 71 from 105 balls with 11 fours. He and Ahmed had added 69 for the last wicket in 134 balls. Yorkshires main wicket taker was Josh Sullivan with 4-65 from 24 overs and there were 2 wickets each for Quarmby and Harding – Yorkshire ahead by 59 with 71 overs plus the last hour to play.
Whitford was caught behind in the first over, however Wharton and Hill added 84 in 128 balls before the former was lbw for 47 from 77 balls with 5 fours. Alec Drury was caught at slip from the last ball before lunch with George Hill unbeaten on 36 from 66 balls with 3 fours and a six – at lunch YCCC 90-3, a lead of 149.
Attempting to set a target wickets fell at regular intervals but not before George Hill reached his 50 from 87 balls with 4 fours and a six – he went on to make 62 from 102 and we declared at 156-9, leaving a target of 216 from a minimum of 25 overs plus the last hour of 17.
Tea was taken after 12 overs with Lancashire at 37-1, requiring a further 179 from a minimum of 13 plus the last hour.
We had no more success and the last hour started with Lancs 97-2 requiring 119 from a minimum of 17 overs. We struck twice in the next 4 overs but were unable to make any further breakthroughs and the match ended as a draw at 5.48pm.
