Winning the toss ,Notts asked Yorkshire to bat first and this seemed a wise decision when they reduced the hosts to 7-2 at the start of the third over.
What followed over the next half hour was a treat for the large crowd at Shaw Lane – they were to witness a superb display of clean striking by Tom Kohler-Cadmore and a plethora of white balls disappearing to all corners. He made 94 from only 35 balls including 7 fours and 9 sixes. He added 111 with Jack Leaning in 52 balls.
Leaning went on to make 42 from 37 (2 fours; 2 sixes) and 36 from Jordan Thompson (24 balls, 1 four; 2 sixes) enabled the White Rose to post a total of 207-7.
Greg Smith and Louis Kimber added 52 for the first wicket before they were separated at the end of the fifth. This led to a collapse amid some poor shots, fine bowling and excellent catches. The next 7.1 overs saw the loss of 9 wickets, the visiting Notts dismissed for only 98.
Only three players reached double figures and there were two wickets each for Matthews Fisher and Matthew Waite and skipper Azeem Rafiq returned the remarkable figures of 4-5 as Yorkshire were winners by the impressive margin of 109 runs.
