Day 2 – Yorkshire spent most of the day chasing leather as Derbyshire, led by a century from their opener, Michael Jones, piled up 383 in their first innings and a lead of 81.
Jones` innings came from 207 deliveries and contained 13 fours and one six. He was ably supported by Greg Cork (75 from 116 deliveries with six fours and four sixes.
For the Yorkshire bowlers, much frustration was evident as they often beat the bat without finding the edge. After the seamers had a long bowl, with Will Rhodes leading the way with 2/44, Jonathan Tattersall turned to spin and the introduction of Karl Carver brought immediate rewards with two wickets.
Carver finished with 4/76, conceding just 2.53 runs from each of his 30 overs.
So Yorkshire had 14 overs to survive and did so with few alarms as both Tattersall and Kohler-Cadmore dealt with any loose deliveries. Kohler-Cadmore played some particularly sumptuous straight drives back past the bowlers.
Yorkshire finished on 47/0, trailing by 34 runs.
