2nd XI Report: Leicestershire v Yorkshire (Day 3)

— 1 June 2017

Day 3 began with us having a substantial lead of 396. We batted for a further 3 overs declaring at 293-4. Jonny Tattersall was finally caught behind for 117 from 194 balls with 9 fours.
This set Leicestershire an improbable 406 to win.

Skipper, Ben Raine, was first to fall, lbw to Matthew Waite for 30 from 26 balls. His opening partner, Barrett, was next to depart for 18 when Karl Carver induced him into chipping the ball back to him and despite scoring at a reasonable rate they were now 86-2 and shortly after, at lunch 93-2.

Matthew Waite dismissed Ali, also lbw, for 46 but it was left to Karl Carver with an excellent spell of slow left arm bowling to rip the heart of their innings returning figures of 23 overs, 7 maidens 6 for 53. His 138 balls produced 114 “dot balls”.

James Wainman took the final wicket as Charlie Shreck was again unable to bat and we were winners by 182 runs.
