On a cool and cloudy morning we were invited to bat first and lost our 1st wicket with only 10 on the board when Harry Brook was caught at mid on. Skipper, Jonny Tattersall was then bowled for 23 with the score at 46. However an unbeaten partnership of 53 between Rhodes and Waite took us to lunch at 99-2 (Will 37 no and Matthew 22 no).
The partnership was extended to 91 when Will was bowled for 50 from 89 balls with 7 fours. Ryan Gibson followed shortly after for 7 before Jordan Thompson joined Waite and at 227-4 it seemed a platform had been set, however this became 270 all out. Jordan made 41 from 77 with 7 fours and Matthew 85 from 136 with 10 fours – however no-one else thereafter reached double figures.
For our hosts Fazakerley took 6-55.
18 overs remained in the day and during this we reduced Leicestershire 55-3: wicket each for Fisher, Shaw and Wainman.
